Li-ion batteries are notorious for just up and dying. I have a couple of
the standard Sony Li-ion batteries that just stop taking a charge after
about 2 years of light use. The rumor is its the 'smart' charger unwilling
to charge the battery that may or may not be completely dead.
My Vx is almost a year old, it will charge up to 100% but it won't hold a
charge in the 90%-100% range after a few minutes of use. I just figured its
the battery starting its death dance.
There is a way to bring back NiCad and Ni-MH batteries with a large
capacitor but I don't know if it will work with Li-ion (and I'm not willing
to try on my Vx just yet ).
