I have done the following with very few problems:
POSE / Settings / Properties...
under communications, select a COM port
turn OFF redirect NetLib calls to host TCP/IP
plug an external modem into the COM port.
You then need to set up Preferences / Connection and Preferences / Network
properly on the emulated device.
Don't have an external modem? Try this instead:
Get a NULL Modem cable and loop your two PC serial ports together
Run MochaPPP on the second serial port.
This has also worked well for me.
