Yes, I was considering the IIIc one of the "new" Palms, but that's only half of the
picture. The original question was very non-specific, and (from my perspective) any
device running OS 3.5 still falls in the "new" category. David's response is correct
in that the just-released m100 and VIIx use the DragonBall's built-in LCD controller.

Right you are! Palm already has one device that does not use the DragonBall's LCD
controller, and it would be wise to expect us and our licensees to bring to market
other, more radical designs as well. So for all those developers out there still
writing directly to the hardware... I recommend you find ways to avoid that wherever
possible... or at the very least fail gracefully on unsupported hardware.
