Well, taking into account all the wonderful copyright violations that
you may encounter, you may, if you ask Palm really nicely, rewrite your
own special MemoPad that does the necessary field cleanup. At the very
least, you'd have an app that you could just plug-in and go with all
your other apps that need that functionality.
Or, you may have to span 4k records with data. I did this with my
minor identification software, where I had lots of little records stored
in 4k memos, and I'd write out a new memo whenever my buffer approached
4k. That was rather easy to work with, and it didn't just pile up the
memos (as if I wrote one memo per record), making it a serious pain to
clear out all the excess memos.
Still, I'd love it if Palm would let me take a crack at the MemoPad
source, and let me reconfigure it and distribute it freely. There are
some things I'd love to see, like being able to delete multiple memos,
being able to clear all memos, doing the field cleanup so I could push
more data into the memos and read bigger ones, etc. Of course, now I'd
just have another one of the "BigPad" type apps, though.
