When you export to a CSV or TAB-separated file, the categories assigned to the telephone number fields (work, home, etc.) aren't included, and they can't be read by the import utility. The information is just gone. My suggestion would be to add 5 more fields for the telephone number id's. I have experience with C and C++, but don't have a suitable development environment, and I don't want to buy one. I'd be happy to make the requisite source code changes, if I could just find someone to compile them.
