Officially there is a charge to upgrade to 3.5, so no, you may not use the ROM from
your friend's device or from the Palm OS web site without appropriate compensation to
Palm. However, there are no technological issues with regard to re-flashing a
different ROM image from an identical device... if you have the technology and the
knowledge. ;o)
