I booked my own flight and car through Expedia.com (America West has an
AUS-PHX-SJC round trip for $220) and am doing a Saturday-Saturday stay.
ETMI wasn't able to book me for the Hilton from arrival to departure, so I
just went with them for the dates they were able to get, then called the new
Santa Clara Hilton directly to extend my stay at 408-330-0001. The Hilton
people were very nice and said there should be no problem getting the
reservation extended, but their local reservation system wasn't online yet
(later this week). They took my name, number, and address and said they
would contact me as soon as they had their system ready. They also quoted
me a weekend rate around $130 on an earlier call which I hope they will
honor. Don't bother trying to reserve through hilton.com -- they don't yet
have any booking information for the property, although their web site
states "This Hotel is scheduled to open 11/28/00 , and is currently
accepting reservations for stays after that date."
