I don't know if it's related to Michael's problem, but I can't get this to
work reliably:
    EvtSetAutoOffTimer(SetExactly, mytimeout);

This only works when mytimeout is a small value.  I don't want to use
SysSetAutoOffTime(), since I only want to change the timeout once,
not change the default.

This is such a simple function call.  At this point, the only explanation
I can think of is that the OS call is broken.
