Now you seek to speak for the news group?
The reason I responded to your original message is that every time
someone asks about protecting their software you post that you will
present a paper at palmsource that will give an exhaustive and final
answer to this question. Even when I have something in existence now
that answers something I leave it at one note and link. I simply got
tired of being told of your wonderful chess game experience for the
Nth time.

Which you have noted are breakable, noisome, or otherwise not worth it
in other messages. If the "when" tends to be "never", of what use is
the "how"?

I don't know of any, but I suspect that within a few hours of
publication, generic cracking routines enumerating the techniques in
your paper will appear.
I don't normally point to web sites which do bad things, so just as
most people don't post warez site pointers, I wouldn't post to a "how
to cripple your software" site. And even you point out that
techniques need to be kept at least a bit secret for them to have any
effectiveness.
Now I can expect horribly annoying +.1 versions of previously good
programs will appear then die since the protection will be as easily
broken as the good will of the users.
The only upside is they can then more easily be displaced by
opensource versions. I've tried in general not to personally displace
shareware with opensource in the past, but I make an exception for
crippleware.
