If you want to build it in Delphi (the easiest PC general development
tool, IMO) then you can use:
EHand Connect http://www.ehand.com
ConduitDB http://www.envicon.de
TurboSync http://www.tabdee.ltd.uk
There are also C++ and Java options, but as you say, the CDK isn't the
easiest thing in the world to work out.
