Install Tool windows flag

Hi friends:

I read an article wich said that the install tool sets a flag located in
Windows every time an application is insatalled.  Do you know where is this
flag?  How may I change this flag in order to emulate this process?  I want
to copy the databases in the install folder and set this flag to avoid use
install tool.
