CW and linking

I use the latest CodeWarrior on a Mac.

When I do a

read 'tSTR' (8493) "Help_8493";

job then I end up with some extra charcters in 'tSTR' (8493) which were not
in the text file Help_8493. 

Can you explain what I am doing wrong?
