>From the Handspring 1.0 Readme:

"When starting the debugger in CodeWarrior, it will ask you to start the
PalmOS device console mode by using "Shortcut ..2". YOU MUST HOLD DOWN THE
UP BUTTON ON THE VISOR BEFORE YOU FINISH WRITING THE 2 AND HOLD IT DOWN
UNTIL THE SOURCE CODE WINDOW APPEARS INSIDE YOUR CODEWARRIOR WINDOW. "

The behavior you describe sounds like you haven't done this, so the debugger
is trying to connect in USB mode, and it can't do that yet.
