M100 16 greys?

        I recall reading somewhere that the m100 supports 16 shades of grey.  
Now, as it appears to be using the same screen, is there, will there be, or 
can there be a hack to enable 16 greys on the III,V, and VII series??  
Anyone have any infomation about this?  Thanks
