This has been discussed before. You may find more about it in the
archives. I think to remember, that the unique id stays almost always the
same and can be used carefully for a relational database. But you should
save a copy of the id inside the record to restore when necessary. The ids
may change after a restore from the backup with some older versions (1.0
?) of HotSync on the PC and some (not so old, maybe even current) versions
on the Mac.
