Possible to get "selected" value of a Popup Trigger

Is it possible to get the selected value number of a Popup trigger outside
of the PopSelectEvent?

Basically, what I'm trying to do is to save the value of a popup trigger
when changing forms in a multi-form application.  Any help would be
appreciated.  Thanks!
