before you dig into it and start wasting time where you could be
writing better apps - check out what has already been written on
the subject:

read the conclusion very carefully - heck, 'setting' the beam attribute
source code is inside this paper, and you could easily reverse it to
unset the bit..
i was interested in the copy-protection stuff, so i dug into it - if
you share the same interest, at least continue off where i ended :)
