There is a compatiblility section in the docs (Programmer's 
Reference is best) which clearly lay out the calls to avoid.
And, of course, the 2.0 roms are available, so you should
use them with POSE to check your changes.

The real question is whether or not you are willing to 
forgo the functionality that the more modern api's give
you.
