I've analyzed the PDB format to death, not just from available
literature but from real PDBs on the Palm, yet the PDBs I produce on my
desktop cause installation problems in Launcher:

"Application" 3.5 reports "LauncherMain.c, Line 1836, can't open
database".

(It repeats the error during every reset as well as during the
installation of the PDB.)
Note that the database DOES end up on the Palm and I CAN see it - but it
keeps producing that error in launcher.

One issue I thought might be a problem is that I know of no way to
create unique IDs for the records, so I set them to zero. (Supposedly
they are generated on install, but maybe not?)

I am also setting the PDB dates - maybe I shouldn't do that?

I am picking a unique type ID and creator ID for the database.

Other than that, it really looks identical to real PDBs.

To anyone who's been making their own PDBs, have you seen any problems
like this?
Any tips you can offer?

Also, to those of you with utilities that analyze PDBs, I'd happily send
you an attachment of PDB's/PRCs I've made to see if you see any obvious
glitches.

Thanks!
- Jeff
