More specifically, I insert "Test message1" into the database. When I read
it back and print it to the screen, I get something like "Test message1xx"
where "xx" are garbage characters. I think the writing to the database is
causing problems but I'm not sure yet. I'm running things through the
debugger to see what's happening.
