I would suggest picking up one of the many Palm OS programming books
available. Most of them come with codewarrior lite for palm, and also some
of them cover getting started with gcc, and alternative resource file
creation tools besides metrowerks palmos constructor. they also come with
loads of sample code and start off simple and build up to more advanced
programming...
