Interesting, but I think you should try to use 0x0A and see what happens,
I'm saying that because I had to insert some "return character" in my
database and I used 0x0A with success.

In Memopad I created a record with the return character (using the keyboard
of the Palm) and checked with insider which was the character and I found
0x0A. 

By the way, excellent book The Advanced Palm Programming, I used the Home
made Progress dialog,

In Constructor on the Mac, it's displayed as 0x0d. Also, if I look at 
the strings in the debugger in hex it's the same thing.
