I wrote a simple SMTP client class in C++ so that I could send email
immediately from a Symbol SPT1740. This device uses a wireless network
connection (802.11), not a modem, so I don't know if it would work for you.
Anyway, an SMTP client can be pretty simple if you just want to send short
messages. The RFC's explain how to do it.
If this is what you had in mind, let me know and I'll provide more detail.

Subject: E-mailing from application
Is there are way to e-mail someone from a custom build Palm app... say for
auto-notification
or to provide that ability to user. I was not able to find any API calls
in
the Palm Reference
Manual to invoke this. If anyone has any information on this this would be
useful... thanks!!
ps. I am already aware of posting e-mails into records to be sent when the
Palm is hot synched
with a PC to use the mail client software on there... but this is not
feature I am interested in. I'd
like to be able to send an e-mail wirelessly through a modem. Thanks.
