My car has anti-theft measures built-in, and if someone could use a standard
pair of starter cables to circumvent this, I'd certainly want to know.

Then you probably don't know many ordinary Palm users. Reading the Palm user
manual certainly encourages this false security thinking.
Still I wonder why Palm decided to ship debugging code in consumer
devices...
