You should assume the documentation is correct, and ignore the OS source
comments.  They're quite often wrong, because few people here pay attention
to keeping block comments up-to-date.

For that matter, it is much wiser to ignore the sources completely, unless
you're using them for debugging and/or optimization, since that's all the
license allows you to do anyway!

The rom often does things the "wrong" way, because it can be fixed when/if
the assumptions change.  And boy, will assumptions change in 5.0.  But if
you play by the rules, all will (probably) be well.
