If you simply intercept penDown/penMove/penUP events that are within the grafitti area 
at the system level and DON'T pass the events on to the system, then system grafitti 
is effectively "off" and
you are getting raw pen strokes to examine and analyze.  For example, I believe penUp 
also passes the location the stroke started.

Bear in mind, though, that's it's pretty sophisticated AI to determine what a user is 
drawing.
