Greetings All! I am very pleased to tell you that the Developer Forum Mailing Lists are shortly going to be migrated to new hardware. (Please, hold your applause until the end!) As anyone who's been a member of the forums for more than a month is well aware, our current setup has been rather unreliable. Frustrating and annoying also come to mind as suitable descriptions. But we're going to change that! We're moving to better, faster, hardware. We'll be running on a different OS, but still using the same Lyris software. Everything has been tested and is ready to roll. So here's the plan: We will halt the server this Thursday, March 29, around 2pm PST. All the databases will be copied and transferred to the new hardware. We're anticipating a maximum of 3 hours to return to normal service, including DNS changes. The server is expected to be back up and running by 5pm PST. All of your subscriptions and mail settings will be preserved, along with the list archives. Other than the planned downtime and expected improved reliability, you should not notice changes in the setup or function of the Developer Forums. Thank you for your patience and understanding over the past several months. I know it's been a trial for list members as well as those of us on the administration and maintenance end. Here's hoping that the new server will resolve those issues!!
