I agree with you.
I ask the question at cebit to accessories palm manufactories. They have no
solution. What does that mean? Their business are dead?
Or there is a another solution? in this case, which one?
If I want, for example, connecte a gps to the Palm, how I do that? I need a
PC?
Are there embeded components (low power, low cost...) with usb host
function?

Best regards.

You pretty much can't. USB is a local-area bus architecture where
there's one and only one master and zero or more slaves. Typically,
the PC is the master, and everything that can be hooked up to it is a
slave. Palm and Handspring devices are slaves, and can't operate as
a master. Therefore, you can't hook other slave devices to a Palm or
Handspring device. You can't have two slave devices hooked together
and talking to each other.
