Battery power failure causes hard reset

Aloha palm-dev-forum:
a user of my reminder application claims that my app will cause his 
Vx to do a hard reset (lose all memory contents) because it drains 
the battery so completely.  is this even possible?

granted, my reminder app is very persistent and will play the alarm 
several times an hour but I do use EvtGetEvent and the alarm API.
