As the original poster of that advogato entry, I can say that the
whole thing was blown way out of proportion. I was replying to someone
else who was about to purchase a color Sony, a linux user, and wanted to
warn him that it would not be supported under linux, at least to sync his
data.

Someone else took that and posted it to Slashdot, which has turned
into this lynching of the GPL, Sony, Palm, and myself. I stand by my
statements, because until recently (2 days ago, recently), they did not
provide the source to their version of the POSE emulator. This has been
noted in various forums, and places, and yes, Keith knows. My intent when
replying to 'kgb' on advogato was not to stir up a front-page Slashdot
story, but alas, that's what happened.

That being said, remember, the "story" you read on my site was an
account of the experiences on an airplane ride back from a conference,
*NOT* a first-person account of a GPL violation. On that flight, I
happened to meet a Sony employee, who I struck up a conversation with, and
brought this up to. He works in their PS2 division, *NOT* their handheld
division, and he really can't speak on their behalf. He implied that they
could have been immune to attack, but that was my impression of his
flippant attitude. Nothing more.

Taken out of context, anything is terrible. The facts presented in
the story are true as presented by me, one person in the situation, and I
simply presented them to 'kgb' on advogato so he could make a judgement
about his impending purchase.

        Enough.
