The Palm UI guidelines call for keeping the button appearance unchanged, and
allowing it to be pressed, but presenting a dialog if the button is pressed
when inappropriate to do so. This gives the user a chance to learn why the
button can't be used at this time - something not possible with disabled
buttons. For an example, try running Datebook and immediately tapping the
Details button without first tapping in an event. Works great, easy to
implement, very Zen ;-)
