That was what I was suggesting.  I believe that someone else pointed out
that you should use some convenient structure to work with the data while
your program is running and then write that to the database at appropriate
times.

I hope you weren't offended by my attempt at humor.  I couldn't help
responding to all that "Zen Masters" talk (and I'm not trying to insult any
real Zen masters or students, either).
