The HostTrace* calls were added to the HostControl interface after
the 3.5 SDK was frozen. You should overwrite the copy of hostcontrol.h
that you're using with the copy that comes with POSE.
The services that are invoked through the HostControl trap are
implemented in the Emulator code, not in Palm OS.
