concatenate an integer to a string

Hi guys ..

i know this is a reallllll stupid question .. how do i concatenate an
integer to a string. for example if i have str[] =  "Number of items is " ..
how do i make it "Number of items is 20" ?? i know its a real stupid
question .. but could do with some help ..
