I think you have two basic choices :
1. A conduit
2. Direct connection between your Palm and the web server
While it is possible for a conduit to access information anywhere
(including from a web server), this would require that a hotsync is
started while the user is connected. An alternative you might want to
consider is downloading a file from the web server that is used to
insert appointments when the next hotsync is run.
For a direct connection from your Palm there are libraries here
http://www.astawireless.com that make it easier to work with data over a
TCP/IP connection.
