What is Hack?

Hi All
I am just ackmowledge about palm os.
When I tried to learn more about palm os, I found the official document
distributed by plam inc don't include any description about the system
functions.
Since I want to understand how the hack program work, I need these
reference. Or anyone can tell me what is the hack program actually work
