That should be OK. See the details form for Address for an example of how
this is normally done. Note that the label for the control is set to a
default value (not blank) when the form is opened, then the user can select
a value from the list (e.g., change the Category from Unfiled to Business),
then whatever the user enters is stored in the DB after the user clicks OK
to close the dialog.
BTW the source code for all the built-in apps is available on-line at
palmos.com along with the SDK.
