Hi all!

I have a serious problem developing a stable solution using Palm HotSync
3.1.0
and an inhouse-developed conduit.
The problem seems to only occur when I configure that conduit in a way that
it shows a dialog during the sync operation.

( System: Win2k
Dialog: Seperate DLL using MFC )

Sync works fine, but after HotSync has completed the Sync with all conduits,
it seems to be in an invalid state, it crashes if you try to access its
dialogs, and if you just push the sync button on the device again,
there's this "You have to close that dialog first" dialog
( which usually only occurs when you're still in some of HotSync's
configuration
dialogs but try to sync, but this time, there is no (visible) dialog ( that
goes for
the extra conduit dialog I already mentioned, too ) ), then it crashes.

I know that the Palm guidelines say that you should not show an extra
conduit
dialog during sync ( btw: sad for nice progress dialogs ), but we _must_
show
this dialog because the conduit communicates via network and needs a
password entered by the user.

What I would like to know is, do you have similar problems,
is this normal,
is there a way to avoid this strange HotSync behaviour
( and of course still keep showing that extra dialog ) ?

Btw:
Would you agree to the following statements?
- The Palm device does not provide any timezone information.
- There is no way to make devices unique without considering the user name.
( Because all ( device ) id's mentioned in Palm docs are fake and not used )
- There are no record-specific modification dates held on the device or by
HotSync
for any database.

Thanks,
Patrick
