A file is an entity from the viewpoint of your disk.
A segment is a group of functions and/or variables.
A file may consist of more than one segment.
A target is somthing you want to create,
seen from the viewpoint of the project.
A target is normally a file associated with the
instructions (target settings) how to create it.
