If any of the 6 records are likely to change most times the app is run, and
if these changes need to be backed up on a HotSync, then I suggest using
your own database. You could set the backup bit on this database, and it'll
have relatively minimal effect on HotSync times. Using 6 saved preference
records would cause the entire saved preference database to be backed up
every time any of your 6 records are changed.
If, on the other hand, the 6 records are generally not changed, or if they
don't really need to be backed up on a HotSync, then using 6 preference
records should work fine. Use unsaved preference records if you don't want
to back them up on HotSync. Use saved preference records if you want them
backed up, but you know they're very rarely actually changed when the app is
used.
