You need a null modem adapter. I had the same problem. You need a null modem adapter to flip a couple pins in the cable.
Instead of: PC with POSE ------------serial cable-----------------serial device use m505 ---------------serial cable---- NULL_MODEM_ADAPTER ------serial cable------serial device In the US you can get a null modem adapter at any Radio Shack.
