I don't have much data for you, but the primary speed differences between
Palm devices come from things like this:

1) CPU speed varies from 16 Mhz to 33 Mhz depending upon the model of
DragonBall used.
2) Memory wait states can slow down memory access, but I don't know if there
is any variation here.
3) Blitter performance varies greatly depending upon bit depth, screen
resolution, and the presence or absence of graphics acceleration hardware.

If you can get your hands on an old device such as a PalmPilot or Palm III,
that should do well as a baseline. You can expect all other devices to be at
least as fast (discounting graphics operations). If I recall, the Visor
Edge, like the m500 series, uses the 33 Mhz DragonBall VZ. This results in
zippy performance compared to earlier devices. You might want to buy an old
model device on eBay.
