Not to jump in here and add to the fire, but.. prc-tools was around
long before Palm decided to begin supporting its development (as was
xcopilot, aka POSE). They do not own it, they only support it as a
development tool for their devices. It's still an externally developed Open
Source project with real people and real goals and skills driving it.
Whatever John thinks is best is probably accurate. prc-tools has to
stay in line with gcc development, not Palm's corporate "vision" or Palm
device vendors' broken SDKs and headers, lest John's job as prc-tools
maintainer gets harder to keep things working right as gcc matures.
