As far as I understand it, the beaming is irrelevant. You just want to sell a pdb separately, so that even a registered user has to buy it before use. The simplest way is probably having a record of a special category, that holds a 'cheat number' depending on both database ID (you just number your appendices like 1, 2, 3, or give 4-digit names similarly to creatorID) and either PUN or Rom Serial (depending on whether or not it is going to be pre-3.5 compatible).
