Hi. I remember the old days when no sound card around. People write code to program the PC speaker to generate voice. It controls the volume by controling the time the speaker is on. It exploit the fact that a speaker's paper cone takes something like 60ms to pop. If the speaker is on for only 30ms, it gets half the colume at given frequency.
I guess the Palm got the samiliar sound capbility as the PC speaker. I am trying to find a way to program it to play wav files. The problem is I am not sure how to get the wav data to convert to the data I'll need for the "sound engine" I need. I guess I need the frequency and time. However the wav file DATA is something for a DAC if I understand it correctly. I am not sure how to convert the data using software. Anyone has experience programming voice with Palm? I mean generating voice with the basic Palm handheld without any addon module. Any tip/reference/sample code will be highly appreciated. Thanks.
