Would Acrobat Reader display it's normal (ie. non-modal) UI? How will the user indicate that he's done reading the manual and wants to return to using your app? By pressing the Applications (home) silk-screen button? I suggest contacting Adobe. I'm sure you're not the only one who would like to be able to use Acrobat Reader in this way.
