I've gotten as far as getting through without any serious errors, with
some (rather elusive) information I've found by searching around. What's
puzzling me now, though, is something I hadn't noticed before about
NetLibSocketListen... is the socket only listening while the network
library is waiting in that function? If so, is there any way to put a
socket in listen mode and check for connections like you normally can in
the BSD socket API?

It's looking like that because, even though I can get a socket into listen
mode, I get a "connection refused" when trying to connect to it from
another machine. That, plus the fact that what I read says that when
NetLibSocketListen returns success, there is a connection request waiting.
What I can't do is sit around forever in that function for a connection...
it only slows everything else down.
