Because ColorTableEntries is a macro (and is even documented as such!),
they couldn't do this without breaking binary compatibility.

It's worse than that. Because ColorTableEntries is merely a macro (and
is entirely inline), accessing the colour entries is in exactly the same
falsely verboten category as accessing numEntries.
