Alex,

It is possible (my company has had a product out to do data 
collection via the RS-232 port for several years now), but our 
approach is to have external hardware take care of timing for 
sampling. The Palm might be able to do it, but IMHO it would take 
much lower-level control of the hardware than the PalmOS allows.
