I am really interested in the beaming part of the simulator, which says:

The infrared communication can be rerouted to host machine serial port and TCP
socket.

Does this mean I will have a perfect working beaming if I connect a serial
infrared dongle to the serial port? The problem is the windows serial ports
are really confusing. For laptops, there is usually one physical serial port
and there is also one virtual port where the modem or SIR device is on. Well,
MS does try to solve these problem and the virtual ports seem gone in the new
XP system. So there is no way to map a SIR to a COM port. I guess it will be
really useful to have the simulator use infrared hardware directly instead of
just dumping stuff down the serial port?

If I direct it to TCP socket, what tools can help me look at the stuff passed
throguh the TCP socket?

Thanks.

Max
